It feels like August

There’s a buzz in August

The polished classroom floors

New names on cubbies

Freshly made welcome signs

Excitement to meet the new batch of bebes 

It’s March

And it’s funny to experience that August buzz

But we have seen those cubby names

On Zoom squares for seven months 

Accompanied by sweet faces

That we will see half of so so soon. 



I live right on the DC line in a lovely little hippie town called Mount Rainier, Maryland. I love taking walks through my neighborhood past the chickens, the prayer flags on big porches, and sweet little parks. I live with my partner, his 11-year old son, and our three cats, Atticus, Calais, and Sneaky. I have been teaching preschool for five years, and couldn't be more grateful for this dynamic, messy, joyful, energetic, playful career.

    I bet it does feel like August - and, yet, how well you know these kids already! When do the children come back? Looking forward to hearing everything about this new, wonderful phase!

    We have been hybrid all year, and in high school with testing and graduation looming and the start of a new sports season, starting back all together next week feels like August and May had a mutant baby. 😉
